The biggest advantage of a professional trainer as opposed to you training your dog using books and videos is that the trainer has perfect timing, knows when to push and when to back off, and should be able to get your dog to respond quicker and easier. Dogs are like people, each dog learns a different way, and using a "cookie cutter" approach to training doesn't work with most dogs.
